On the premises of a Former Fruit Market, a proposal for the centre of Las Arenas (Getxo) generates spaces for diverse public activities. The building is open to the exterior and creates axes that define various routes around it, encompassing an entire exterior space formed by a square.
The building quietly blends in with its surroundings owing to its predominantly calm and residential nature, and invites participation and intervention in a pleasant and caring new space, reinforcing coexistence in the city.
With regard to the building’s interior, the layout of the survant space is lineal and contiguous to the adjacent building, in such a way that the surved spaces are independent and autonomous. The materiality of the project is based on permeability, the sensation of seeing, but without being seen.
